Hello, Last night my '93 Miata got its window smashed and hard top stolen! I'm posting here in hopes that everyone will keep an eye out for some dirtbags trying to sell a Miata hard top in the SF Bay area. My top was purchased 2nd hand when I lived in Richmond, VA (4 years ago) and was originally red I had it repainted Mariner blue to match, the key here is that the body shop did it as a favor and the top is still red under the trim. I have taken this car all over the USA with me and to say the least I'm heartbroken its been violated and right in front of my house no less (where I have lived well over a year).

Again just to recap.

Drivers window was broken, nothing else was touched. Aftermarket radio was left intact...

Top is red under the trim, due to respray when I bought it.

I plan on posting a reward for any information leading to the arrest of the responsible individuals.

I have the factory hardtop for a Mazda miata,It is mariner (think smurf) blue in color.Comes with all hardware including side latches and rear "Frankenstein" bolts.Has a few finish scratches from taking off/on but window is in very good shape. It came off a 1st generation car but I'm told these will also fit the 2nd generation cars as well.Selling only because we "retired" the miata under the state program after a smog failure.
These are a great addition, especially this time of year.I've seen cheap imitations made of thin material selling for several hundred dollars...This is the real Factory one.
Close offers will be considered but low ballers will be ignored! These do not come up for sale very often as most who have them never want to give them up!

The Frankenstien bolts are still intact on the window-smashed Mariner Blue Miata in the picture above. Plus, only a serious Miata owner would know to even call them "Frankenstein" bolts.

I am the owner of the SF craigslist ad referenced here.My car was scrapped under the states smog failure program but I kept the hardtop.
I'm sorry to hear about the theft from Alameda....This is not the 1st theft I've seen but I DON'T HAVE HIS TOP!!!

Typically, it's a rule violation for the owner of an eBay or Craig's List ad to make themselves known in the thread. But, given the circ*mstances here, I'm going to leave the reply. However, there should be no discussion of selling the hardtop here in the thread. The thread is about a stolen hard top and all further discussion should be about that subject.

Thanks for understanding!

+1 for hardtop locks, i still havent bought any, but still havent installed ht, cuz of how quick and easy it is to steal and then make a nice chunk of $$$

Bastards! People who do stuff like that need to watch their backs (a little something called karma). Anyways, recommend setting up a couple of Google Alerts that will automatically e-mail you if the search term you enter pops up anywhere on the web (like on craigslist, ebay, local for sale sites, forums where someone's talking up a new top they got cheap, etc.). Sure, it's a long shot, but should you get lucky enough to come across it again, just turn it over to the authorities to follow-up on (no need to handle yourself, acting out of vengeance).

I'd be willing to bet that the one who took it, will change the color wether they plan on keeping it or selling it.

Until you get your top back or buy a new one, remember to put the top boot on, the sun is the enemy of the inside of the soft top.

Here is another smurf blue top on craigslist in Sacramento. Your post here was re-posted on the Sacramento Miata Club forum, so that's how I saw it.

Oakland? Windows smashed? Roof stolen? Obviously, they're disgruntled Raider fans. I like the Raiders...they hand the Chargers 2 wins every year!

2 things puzzle me~

1. They didn't take the radio, and

2. It took a whole year for the op to get ripped off.
