This is my first serger, and I learned to use it just by going through the user's manual, page by page. Everyone told me that rethreading was hard, but it's not so bad. I leaned to create a 3 or 4 th...

Does it need a special foot for the rolled hem?

I just got a great deal on a Juki MO634DE. It's in great shape. Just trying to find out what all it will do. My first serger....Wish me luck. Do have a sewing class scheduled to learn all it can do. Have rethreaded with little problems. Had the wrong manual but found a new manual for my machine on Google.

For Jewels and Scottsdale! I have a Juki 634MO which I bought new at least 20 years ago! I have the manual - although it's very lacking, and a VHS tape. I've been serging on a newer Janome, but have taken the Juki out of the closet at the urging of some PR's, and am cleaning it up. It's very sweet, made in Japan, but I've always found the threading and needle changing a big pain you know where!!

Dear Annette, thank you for your review. I bought this model as well but second hand therefore there is no instruction. I had no idea what its functions, I only use it as a basic 3 thread overlocker. Do you mind if I can have a copy of your manual? Kind regards.

I know I am a little outdated in response to your review, I recently acquired the MO-634-DE, but am trying to track down afoot pedal, and manual for it. Can you help. Thanks, Jewels.

I have this machine too and love it. When I haven't used it for a while, I forget some tension details, but figure it out pretty quickly and have always been happy with the machine's performance.

Very helpful and interesting. I would like to know which book she is referring to. Better yet maybe she'll do the review soon. Thanks

bachlva, no it doesn't do the cover stitch. Juki makes another machine, I think it is the 735, that does; I have the 654DE and love it but am now searching for a cover stitch machine for my dancewear!

I liked that she commented on what type of needles it takes.

OK... The big question: does this machine do a cover stitch? ;)

I have the 654 DE and I just love it. I have yet to have a problem with tensions or stitches. It just works great each and every time! I really like the Juki quality. - Sherril

Annette, I have this serger too, and love it. I've had mine for about 12 years! I agree that changing the needles is the toughest thing about it. I got one of those little lint brushes with a plastic handle that has a hole on the end. The needle fits into the hole, then you can insert it in to the machine with ease. I hope this helps!-Ann
