Fantasy WR Rankings Week 2: Who to start, best sleepers at wide receiver (2024)

As fantasy football owners, it's crucial to have short-term memory and never get too high or low. It's only one week, and things can change on a dime. Now that we're entering a week filled with overreactions, our Week 2 fantasy WR rankings for standard leagues are here to help you block out the noise.

We understand your feelings of wanting to jump ship on a player who vastly underperformed in Week 1, but it's too early. Don't declare your season over just because your Week 1 opponent boat raced you, and don't think you're destined for a fantasy championship because your team went off. Remaining even keeled is especially necessary with WRs. Outside of the top few tiers, this position is notoriously inconsistent.

A level-headed approach is the best way to navigate through the roller coaster that is fantasy football, and our Week 2 WR rankings can help give you the edge needed to win this week.

Who are the best fantasy WRs Week 2?

Justin Jefferson (@ Eagles) owners are glad they took JJettas with a top-three pick, as last season's WR1 was his typical self in Week 1 (nine receptions, 150 yards). He wasn't nearly as dominant as last week's overall WR1, Tyreek Hill (@ Patriots), but both WRs lived up to the hype in Week 1.

WEEK 2 STANDARD RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs |TEs | D/STs | Kickers

We're not overly worried about Ja'Marr Chase (vs. Ravens) despite his Week 1 dud, as he still garnered 12 targets in what's probably the worst offensive output for the Bengals this season. Tee Higgins (vs. Ravens) should bounce back, too. Davante Adams (@ Bills) and A.J. Brown (vs. Vikings) didn't reach paydirt in Week 1, but both still put forth solid fantasy efforts.

WEEK 2 PPR RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

Amon-Ra St. Brown (vs. Seahawks) showed out on Thursday night as Detroit's unquestioned WR1, while Calvin Ridley (vs. Chiefs) beasted in his first game as a Jaguar. Expect more of the same this week for both.

Who are the best fantasy WR sleepers, waiver pickups Week 2?

On the sleeper/waiver wire front, Puka Nacua (vs. 49ers) looked like Cooper Kupp Jr. out there for Matthew Stafford, seeing 15 total targets and totaling 10 catches for 120 yards. With Kupp (hamstring) sidelined for at least the next three weeks, Nacua's a priority waiver wire add in all formats. Kendrick Bourne (vs. Dolphins) also saw double-digit targets (11) and has WR3/flex appeal in what could be a high-scoring bout with Miami in Week 2.

We thought Rashid Shaheed (@ Panthers) would turn some heads in Week 1, and the second-year wideout did just that, catching five-of-six targets for 89 yards and a TD. His field-stretching abilities make him a boom-or-bust flex moving forward.

Although we ultimately think Christian Kirk returns to his 2022 form, Zay Jones operated as Jacksonville's WR2, catching five passes for 55 yards and a TD against Indianapolis. Other WRs worth utilizing a wavier claim on include Romeo Doubs (@ Falcons), Allen Robinson II (vs. Browns), Tutu Atwell (vs. 49ers), Darnell Mooney (@ Buccaneers), and Josh Downs (@ Texans), with Nacua and Doubs being our favorites this week.

Rookies Zay Flowers (@ Bengals) and Jordan Addison (@ Eagles) were owned in a lot of leagues heading into last week, but they outperformed their ADPs in a big way. They're not sure things to repeat their production in Week 2, but both have earned at least flex spots in 12-team leagues.

Who are the biggest potential WR busts Week 2?

Don't be surprised if Allen Lazard (@ Cowboys), Tyler Boyd (vs. Ravens), JuJu Smith-Schuster (vs. Dolphins), Odell Beckham Jr. (@ Bengals), and Marquez Valdes-Scantling (@ Jaguars) fail to live up to their projections in Week 2. While none of these wideouts fall into the "must-start" category, they are fringe WR3/ flexes who could be involved in some start 'em, sit 'em debates.

Proceed with caution, and if possible, look to replace those guys with some of our preferred waiver wire adds like Nacua, Bourne, and Shaheed.

What are the biggest WR injuries Week 2?

We think Jerry Jeudy (hamstring) will make his season debut next week after practicing on a limited basis before Week 1. However, we are not as optimistic about DJ Chark's (hamstring) and Christian Watson's (hamstring) playing statuses for Week 2.

We'll see if Jakobi Meyers (head) can suit up in Week 2, but as things currently stand, we've taken him out of our initial Week 2 rankings. Ditto for Diontae Johnson (hamstring), as our early feeling is he misses Pittsburgh's Week 2 home tilt against the Browns.

Mike Williams and Tyler Lockett exited their respective games with head injuries, but both wideouts returned to game action and are listed in our Week 2 WR rankings.

We'll be updating these standard WR rankings throughout the week, so check back for the latest player movement and analysis.
