I worked for an amusem*nt park for 9 days just until the school kids got out of school. Let me tell you, i have a whole new respect for the kids that work there all summer.

And I have a new respect for all of the people that work fast food! It is hard work to stand on a hard floor for that many hours day in and day out! One day, I will buy some inserts for someone that doesn’t have the best of shoes that works in fast food. I would come home at night and my feet hurt so bad. I am older than they are, but feet are kind of a big deal.

What are Chocolate Swig Cookies with Cookie Dough Frosting?

  • Chocolate Swig Cookies are basically a chocolate sugar cookie.
  • They were inspired by the cookies that a place called Swig makes, but they call their cookies Dirt Balls.
  • I love cookie dough and frosting, so I decided that I would make these cookies even better by adding a Cookie Dough Frosting!

So one day I got to work at 9:15 a.m. We had school kids come that were celebrating their Senior year and we had a lot of schools come to the amusem*nt park. The kids would come starting at 10:30 a.m. and leave at 3:00 p.m. One day, we made 800 drinks with pop! Wow, that is a lot of pop and boy was I tired when I got home.

I grew up on a farm and we were poor. When we ate out 2 times a year, we would order the cheapest thing on the menu and we always ordered water. Also we would never think about paying $3.00 for a cookie. That being said, sometimes it is just fun to get to have a pop and a cookie once or twice a year!

I can’t use coconut oil due to my daughters allergy. Although I’m not a huge fan, would shortening work?

I tried this. Cooked for 11 minutes. I had to add a very tiny amount of corn syrup to top of cooled cookies to get the icing to stick. This worked very well. My icing was rather dry and stiff as well, so I probably used 6 or 7 teaspoons of milk. I recommend supporting your cookies on your flattened hand while icing in case they are breakable like mine were. My recommendations are also to add a pinch or 2 of salt to the icing and use dark brown sugar if you want an extra cookie dough taste, and use a heaping measurement of cocoa in the cookies because… well, chocolate. These were amazing!! Thank you!

Easy Add-In: After creating the dough according to the sugar cookie mix instructions, Add 2 tablespoons of sour cream to create a tangier, cakier and all-around more flavorful cookie. Why do many chocolate chip cookie recipes contain baking soda and brown sugar? ›

Brown sugar is acidic, which means its best friend is alkaline baking soda; when combined, they activate, Wonder Twins–style, to produce carbon dioxide. Both sugars are hygroscopic, so they compete with flour to soak up moisture from the dough, but brown more so than white.

How to improve Pillsbury sugar cookies? ›

    Mix in tasty ingredients

Take plain sugar cookies up a notch with exciting mix-ins like chocolate chips, rainbow sprinkles, toasted chopped nuts, chopped dried fruit or M&M's. Add these after blending your butter and egg into the sugar cookie mix. This is our favorite hack for holiday Pillsbury cookie dough.

What happens when you add extra sugar to cookies? ›

Sugar sweetens the cookies and makes them an enticing golden brown. Adding too little sugar can affect the taste and texture of cookies. Adding too much can cause them to be brittle. Take your time creaming the sugar and butter together at the beginning.

How do you fix overmixed cookie dough? ›

    Overmixing the dough

If you overmix the dough, the cookies will be dry and crumbly. The best way to fix this is to add more liquid to the dough. This can be done by adding milk, water, or even melted butter. You may also need to add more flour to the dough if it is too wet.

Should you beat eggs before adding to cookie mix? ›

To get perfectly soft, chewy cookies, you need to beat the eggs, butter, and sugar for up to five minutes. Undissolved lumps of butter can ruin your batter — creaming the butter and sugar until it's smooth and airy gives you cookies that aren't overly dense.

What does overmixed cookie dough look like? ›

You may notice visible pockets of flour, streaks of butter, or uneven coloration. When overmixed, though, cookie dough will feel dense, greasy, heavy, and warm. It may be tough to roll out or work with, just like overmixed pie dough.

What happens if you forget to add brown sugar to cookies? ›

What happens when you bake without brown sugar? To be succinct, the resulting baked good could be slightly drier or more crisp. Without the excess moisture from the molasses in the brown sugar, the final cookie won't be as chewy and the final bread might be drier.

What happens if you use baking powder instead of baking soda in cookies? ›

Baking powder: Baking powder can be used to replace baking soda, though not at a 1-to-1 ratio. Because the former is not as strong as the latter, it's important to use three times the amount of baking powder as baking soda. Be aware, a slightly bitter, off-putting taste might result from using that much baking powder.

Can you use Pillsbury frosting on cookies? ›

    Tips from the Pillsbury Kitchens

To make cookie sandwiches, spread frosting over half the cookies, top sides down; top frosting with remaining cookies, top sides up. To make chocolate frosting, add a few tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa with the powdered sugar.

Is it better to bake cookies at 325 or 350? ›

350° is the standard temp for a cookie, and it's a great one. Your cookies will bake evenly and the outside will be done at the same time as the inside. Baking at 325° also results in an evenly baked cookie, but the slower cooking will help yield a chewier cookie. The outsides will be a little softer, too.

How do you make Pillsbury cookies taste better? ›

    My two tricks:
    1. I always let the dough sit and soften/warm up before putting it into the oven -- about 15 minutes.
    2. I sprinkle sea salt and brown sugar on the cookies just after they come out of the oven. Makes them toasty and brings out the delicious, sweet flavor!

Over-working the dough yields a tough cookie, which is not at all what you want. The very best sugar cookies are soft and tender. → Follow this tip: One of the keys to great sugar cookies is mixing the dry ingredients only until they're just incorporated, and not a second longer.

Why is my sugar cookie dough not coming together? ›

First, try adding more liquid to the dough. This can be milk, water, or even just a little bit of extra oil. If that doesn't work, you can try kneading the dough for a few minutes to help it come together. Lastly, if all else fails, you can always add in a few tablespoons of flour to help bind the dough together.

How do you use store bought sugar cookie dough for cutouts? ›

Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness on work surface. Cut out desired shapes using floured 2- to 2 1/2-inch cookie cutter. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 11 minutes or until edges are light golden brown.
